Wireless Network Security? I just bought the LinkSys Wirless - G broadband router with speed boost and the the linksys Wireless - G USB netwrok adaptor with speed booster. I treied to add security to the network, but it did not work, saying that the adaptor could not communicate with the router. It only worked if there was no security on either the roter or adaptor. So, I finally got it working with just WEP security, yet there is a stronger security available, namely PSK and WPA. So, if WEP is not the strongest security available, what can I do to make the network more secure and stop people jumping on to mine? I am using a laptop as the main comp. I am running XP service pack 2 on it. I have the ability to set MAC address filtering, (but I don't not know my MAC address, how can I find this out?) I can set a passphrase but trying this stopped the network from working. Any ideas? I already use firefox. I am not worried about viruses and spyware on my network, I am worried about people getting on to it from outside.

I set up my AOL wireless modem on my desktop computer and set up a network key at the time (i think) but the computer had to be wired to te router so i have never actually used the wireless. network security code? my pc is the admin, i want to add another pc to the wireless network but its asking for a network security code. I forgot this code, how do i look it up on my computer? thanks, but wheres the wireless tab?

Network Security Degree? I want to know what do they really do? What do they work on all day? Is it hard to do? I went to school for music production, but after learning the financial side of it, I decided to do it as a hobby. I've been building computers since I was eight years old, and always had great knowledge of computers. I was thinking about going to my community college for an associates in Computer & Networking Technology, and then transfer to the University of Advanced Technology for a Bachelors in Network Security. My view on it is a guy sitting in his chair all day, but from what I heard, it's a very creative career. Since I love to do creative jobs, I figured this would be a good career to look in. I'm twenty years old and really want to pursue something before I get any older, this has been in my head for months. Please, any information would be helpful.

HELPPP!!!!!! how can i disable security on wireless network ? i enabled wireless network security using Network Magic. After that, we lost our internet connection. everytime i view available wireless network, i can see our linksys connection but with Security enabled Wireless Network (WPA), before i did the security settings, it is unsecured wireless network. I want it to go bak to unsecured WN. but HOW? i tried it to Network Magic but doesnt work. thank for the info. but there's another problem. after i unlocked, and connected to the internet, i cannot browse to the net even it says "connected to linksys" and signal is "excellent" when i looked at the properties of our linksys network, association tab, network key and confirmation key still have ********** even they're something like disabled, i thought i really matters because before, that two keys are blank and the connection is really excellent.

My network security says unknown computer connected to...? Hi everyone, I just got a new PC with a much different virus/network security program than what I am accustomed to. It is called Trend Micro PC-cillin. Anyway, I keep getting these messages that there are unknown computers connected to my network. The latest one shows an IP address of 192.168.1.101 -- could that be my Linksys routher, which is how I connect my husband, or is it really another computer using my internet access? How do I tell? My husbands computer is not on presently so it would not be his, so I'm not sure what to think about this. Any help for someone who knows nothing about IP addresses? Wireless Network Security Help!? I just set up my wireless network a couple of weeks ago and set up a WEP security thing on it that gives you a Hex key to log in and stuff, anyway I left my computer on all day and night yesterday while at work and I came home and clicked on my wireless monitor and under the connections it had: IBM Visitor retea (My connection) linksys Visitor I am on channel 11 and they are all on channel 6, Is this something to be concerned about? problem with network security? im using WEP network security password so that nobody can use my line..but why when i entered the security password,the next time i connect it seems that it remembers the password..so i dont have to type the password again...how can i fix this?is there any box that i have to uncheck so that it wont remember the security code?i dont want it to remeber my password

just downloaded mcafee total protection, including wireless network security. need help.? my wireless internet was secure. then, my security expired, and i went out and bought mcafee total protection, which includes wireless network security. it literally takes over, and secures it with the mcafee program. not with windows, and how it was secure before, without wireless network security. i dont mind it, but now, when i try to connect from my PSP, it wont let me, it blocks my PSP out. So, i tried to disable mcafee wireless network security. then! after that happened, my wireless network was unsecure. and i deff. dont want that. so i went back to mcafee and enabled it. what can i do? i want my psp to be able to connect.

Network Security? How to stop my brother from accesing my comp? Okay maybe I am paranoid. But so far I believe my brother is a pervert. And he would be very interested to see what adult videos I have in my computer. So I am 80% sure he has tried to get into my computer or already has. Network security check? Why is it that every five or six answers i give, When i submit the answers which are perfectly good ones, it comes up with the message "failed to pass the network security check, please sign out and sign back in" I find this verrrry annoying as my answer does not get pinned onto the question and i have to seek out that question again and retype the answer all over again, resubmit it and it gets approved? hobo. I dont have problems with my pass word, I just click on answers and get back down to business, It's just frustrating when you type a good long informative answer, and you find you have to re type it all over again. Yahoo answers had a long enough coffee break earlier to fix problems, this problem never occured before their coffee break.
